Dr. Farmer specializes in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder and knee, in addition to primary joint replacement of the shoulder, hip, and knee. He also has extensive experience in the treatment of fractures. Dr. Farmer was the first physician in the area to perform an Osteochondral allograft transplant for the treatment of cartilage defects in the knee. Dr. Mehalik has introduced several new advances in surgical treatment to our area, including meniscus allograft transplantation, arthroscopic shoulder instability reconstruction and all-arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. His success with rotator cuff problems is unparalleled, having performed more all-arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs than any surgeon in the region. Dr. Mehalik’s most recent impressive achievement has allowed him to perform total shoulder replacement in the outpatient setting over the last 4 years.

SANDRA B. COLLINS, M.D.

Hand and Upper Extremity Doctor

Board Certified, Fellowship Trained Orthopedic Surgeon Specializing in Hand, Upper Extremity and Microvascular Surgery. Since moving to beautiful Fort Myers, Dr. Collins has focused her practice on reconstruction and rehabilitation of traumatic injuries and arthritic conditions of the hand, wrist, forearm, and elbow, nerve and tendon injuries, work related conditions, and congenital differences of the hand and upper extremity. She accepts patients of all ages, including children, and works closely with several area certified hand therapists.

Double board certified foot and ankle surgeon who treats all types of foot and ankle conditions in both the adult and pediatric population. He is a pioneer in his field and specializes in Achilles tendon problems, sports injuries, arthroscopic surgery, ligament repair and bunion correction. One of the few podiatrists in the country who has attained double Board Certification in both Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery. Fellowship Trained Orthopedic Surgeon Specializing in Adult Reconstruction of the Hip and Knee. Dr. Harmon has had extensive sub-specialty training in minimally invasive muscle sparing surgical techniques for reconstruction of the hip and knee. These minimally invasive advanced approaches allow for a much more rapid recovery as well as decreased post-operative pain. This allows patients to have a significantly quicker return to functional status.

Residency Trained in Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgery, Trauma Surgery, Diabetic Reconstructive Surgery, Arthroscopy, Sports Medicine, Biomechanics, Dermatologic Conditions and Conservative Treatments. Dr. Swift has pursued additional specialized training in external fixation, minimally invasive surgical techniques, trauma surgery, plastic surgery techniques, and reconstructive surgery focused on the foot and ankle. He has also had additional training with dermatopathologists in the diagnosis and treatment of dermatological conditions in the lower extremity.

RONALD LEAVITT, M.D.

Hand and Upper Extremity Doctor

Board Certified Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Specializing in Hand and Upper Extremity Care. Dr. Leavitt was born in Richmond, VA and raised on Long Island. He received his Bachelor’s degree in physics from Brown University and his medical degree from Columbia University. He did a surgical internship at LA County-USC Medical Center and his orthopedic surgery residency and chief residency at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York. After serving as a Major in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps, he did a fellowship in hand surgery at Thomas Jefferson University.
